The next best thing...

...in Arizona besides the mountains and 70 degree weather in January is McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park!

A while back when my dad and sister visited we stumbled upon this great train park in Scottsdale. Needless to say, it has been our favorite place to go with the family ever since then. They have actual trains that you can ride on, a carousel, a lookout tower, a huge playground, shops and a museum. The best part is that it is FREE to get in and the trains rides only cost a $1.00 a ticket!

Below is a picture of the larger train and Sissy riding inside one of the freight cars. And, of course Sugar riding on the Carousel with Daddy. I think we are going to have Sugar's Birthday party here since she is such a train lover right now.
Hmmm, I wonder why? :-)

For those of you who haven't done it

...this is one more call to bloggityville to help donate for Kelli and her family. If you don't know what's been going on around here in the blogosphere then go here.

Don't worry it's not too late, you can you can still donate.

Lastly, a BIG thanks to BooMama (and God) for 'Lovin' on Kelli'!

It DOES get cold in the desert

Last night we had a low of 31 degrees and two straight days of overcast. I do believe this is the coldest it has been since we moved here. And, in spite of all of the chilly-ness Sissy and Sugar STILL wanted to go outside and play.

Did I ever tell you Sugar is hot in nature? No matter what the temperature is inside and out? She sleeps in nothing and if she goes to bed with something on you can guarantee it's off by morning. Well today was nothing unusual except for the fact she did not want to go upstairs to get clothes on to play outside.

So below was her solution to getting dressed. Mind you it was in the mid-40's when she was wearing this fine attire.

I guess kitchen towels and Dad's shoes have more uses than we thought.

New Year's Meditations

I love this idea that Laurel is hosting over at Laurel Wreath. She would like for us to share our "New Year's Mediations" instead of our "New Year's Resolutions". Isn't she smart? I think it sounds so much better too. Especially since every. single. year. I blow off every resolution I make say mid-February. :-)

Anyhoo, since I haven't blogged in like forever, I thought this would be a good thing to start the new year with. (Wow, my English teacher would be proud of that sentence!)

Unlike previous year's, I'm not setting the usual goal to lose weight, eat better, read more, blah, blah, blah but rather...Trust God More With His Plan For My Life.

It seems like such a simple thing to do but yet, this past year it has been one of the hardest things for me to do. Then to start the new year with our house still on the market and myself facing more health issues it seems even harder.

So, for my 2007 New Year's Mediation I'm going to be meditating on these two verses:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowldge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6

And the one that got me through my last surgery...

"For I know I have plans for you,'declares the Lord', 'plans to prosper you
not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
Jeremiah 29:11

I know this isn't a nice long organized list of goals for 2007 but the truth be known, this is all I can and need to focus on right now.

If you would like to read other folks meditations for 2007 head on over to Laurel Wreath.

Happy New Year!
